Students are admitted to this program for full-time study only. The program runs from late August through late May and is divided into two semesters, each consisting of two eight-week modules. After completing the eight-week module, students will advance to a higher level of classes, start new textbooks, and work with new teachers. Students spend approximately twenty hours per week in class. IUP’s standard curriculum includes four hours of classes a day from Monday to Friday. These four hours of classes include three hours of 3-on-1 instruction and one hour of 1-on-1 instruction. The actual class arrangement may vary slightly depending upon individual circumstances.
In subsequent modules, as the students in the Academic Year Program progress, contact hours may be reduced somewhat as students advance into higher levels where the proportion of out-of-class preparation time may rise and more individual attention may be warranted.
